Finally, A Day of Rest

My school has the ABSOLUTE WORST reputation for staying open in the worst conditions.  We've had anthrax scares a few years back and half the classes were still running.  We've recently had an elevator explode, as one can read in a below post, and we just blocked off the elevator in the end and let people in to every other part of the school for classes.  Hell, I even remember what was, I believe, 2 years ago, there was a giant storm with tons of snow coming and Brock was the only place open in the city (stayed open even past the city buses being canceled).  So for me to have a snow day is a HUGE deal.

God damned school
However, having a snow day does have it's downsides.  Like, say getting up at 6 (I have 8am classes every morning this term, and it takes two buses to get to my school...so unless I want to be late, I have to leave my house by 7) this morning just to realize I don't have classes.  After realizing that, I was already wide awake, so going back to sleep wasn't an option.

I've texted (or facebooked) all of the people that I know who have 8am class with me and told them to stay in (living the furthest away means waking up the earliest), and some were quite shocked that the school was closed, mainly due to the fact that, at that time, there was barely any wind and maybe a centimetre of snow.

As for my plans for today, I plan to catch up on some homework that I desperately need to finish up.  Two assignments due tomorrow and a midterm this Saturday (that's right...Caturday for me is a day of mourning this week), means I really need to read these books for these classes.

So to my readers, maybe I'll post later on once I finish my work, and maybe have a bit of a rant about how LaTeX is much better than any other program out there for mathematics based stuff.  Tell me what you think.

P.S.  I changed my blogs look.  Tell me what you think, or if you have another idea of what I could do, please tell.

  12. I'm still not quite sure why they closed it. Maybe because they know they have a bad reputation for doing so and they want to change it, to be for student friendly. Possibly reviews for the school are do soon and they need to make a good impression.

  13. I guess they finally got scared someone would fall or get injured in some other way and would then sue the school for forcing them to come. But, yeah, a day off is a day off, I usually don't even think about homework or related stuff when I get this lucky ...

  18. My school is terrible aswell.
One day the pipes froze in our school and burst open, the PE area was soaked in water, and despite the possibility that the rest of the school's pipes could have blown as well, we still had to stay in school.

There were loads of other times when it should have been closed as well.
